02 · METHOD 1: DIVISION

Division separates existing pups (baby plants that emerge from the parent rhizome) into individual plants. The pups already have their own roots and leaves — you’re just separating them, not growing new ones.

The process:

  1. 1Unpot the parent plant. Rinse soil off the rhizome to see structure clearly.
  2. 2Identify pups — individual clusters of leaves connected to the parent by rhizome. Each pup ideally has its own roots.

03 · METHOD 2: LEAF CUTTINGS IN SOIL

From a single leaf (~80% success)

Cut a healthy leaf into sections and plant them in soil. Each section can produce a new plant, though the process is slow (3–6 months) and the new plants take another 6–12 months to reach usable size.

The process:

  1. 1Cut a healthy leaf close to the soil line with clean shears.
