Watering Spike Flow Calculator
Use the slider to estimate how long the spike will last and how much water it releases per day.
How to use this calculator
Choose a soil dryness level. Level 1 represents the wettest soil — the spike releases water more slowly, so it lasts longer (up to 14 days). Level 5 represents bone-dry soil — the spike empties faster (as few as 7 days).
Read the results. "Estimated days it lasts" shows how long the 17.5 oz reservoir should last at your selected dryness level. "Estimated flow" is the average ounces your plant receives per day.
Treat this as an estimate. Actual performance varies with plant size, pot size, ambient temperature, airflow, soil mix, and how firmly the spike is seated in the soil. Refill when empty or when your plant shows signs of thirst.

Tips for Best Results
Monitor Flow Rate
In the first few days, check how quickly the water level drops to understand your plant's needs and optimize refill timing.
Soil Moisture Levels
Flow slows in moist soil. In dry soil, water is drawn out more quickly because dry soil has a higher capillary pull.
Clean Exposed Terra Cotta
If flow slows over time, gently scrub the terra cotta with a soft brush to remove dust, soil, or mineral buildup.
Use in Pairs for Larger Pots
For bigger planters, use two AcquaTerras for more even coverage across the root zone.
