Our Heritage

The BabaBerry story starts with Julia — our founder's grandmother — who kept a garden that was the center of her world. As she got older, Julia decided to travel. She saw gardens on every continent, collected seeds and cuttings, and never stopped growing things wherever she went.

Julia's mother, known to the family as "Baba," discovered a species of raspberry and named it the BabaBerry. The name stuck. When we relaunched BabaBerry as a plant care brand, we built it on the same values Julia and Baba lived by: a love of plants, a spirit of curiosity, and the belief that the best garden tools are the ones that give you your time back.

Julia traveled the world and never stopped gardening. We build products so you can do both.

Adventure

A weekend away shouldn't mean coming home to dead basil. A two-week vacation shouldn't mean begging your neighbor to water your raised beds. BabaBerry products exist so you can grow things and live your life.

The Acqua Olla waters your garden for up to 35 days while you're gone. The AcquaTerra spike keeps houseplants alive for 9–20 days without a plant sitter. The Dynamic Dripper lets you dial in the exact drip rate for any trip length. Fill them before you leave. Your garden is covered.

The best irrigation technology isn't new. It's 4,000 years old. We just engineered it for modern gardens.

Innovation

Buried clay pot irrigation has been used across China, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas for over four millennia. Peer-reviewed research published in Agricultural Water Management confirms it saves 50–70% of water compared to surface watering — with some studies documenting up to 98% efficiency.

BabaBerry takes that proven science and engineers it into purpose-built products with consistent porosity, glazed reservoirs, fitted lids, and adjustable flow control. No DIY hacks. No guesswork. Just terracotta irrigation that works the way 4,000 years of field testing says it should.

Born under California sun. Built for gardens everywhere.

Designed in California

Our founder grew up gardening in the Mediterranean climate of California — where year-round sun, long dry summers, and water restrictions are a way of life. That environment shaped everything about how BabaBerry products are designed: maximum water efficiency, minimum maintenance, and materials that look as good in a Santa Monica courtyard as they do on a Brooklyn fire escape.

California taught us that water is precious, that gardens are worth the effort, and that the best products are the ones that work with nature instead of against it. Every BabaBerry product is designed here — tested in the same hot, dry conditions where water conservation matters most — and built to perform anywhere you grow.
